With the intention of encouraging the flow of migrant skills outside of Auckland two incentives are provided:
Residence Policy – Skilled Migrant.
The points available for an offer of employment in a location outside of Auckland increases by a further 30 points.
(But, a condition is attached to the resident’s visa that the job in some cases must be held for a minimum of 12 months.)
Entrepreneur Work Visa Policy.
The points available for Entrepreneur Work Visa applicants planning to set up a business outside Auckland increases by a further 40 points.
Definition of “Auckland”.
There is a legally and geographically precise definition of “Auckland” but in layman’s terms; “Auckland” is regarded as stretching from Wellsford in the North to Pukekohe in the South.
